🌾 The Association des Champagnes Biologiques (ACB) kicked off the new season at the Châlons-en-Champagne Fair.
The ACB began its season by taking part in the Châlons-en-Champagne Fair, a major agricultural policy event in the region, and used the opportunity to meet with its partners and local administrative and political bodies.
It was a busy day of networking and discussions, all with one aim: to help the organic Champagne sector grow in the months and years to come! 🌱
Among other things, we spoke with our partner Bio en Grand Est at the INAO stand 🤝, as well as with the Aube-based organisation Terres & Vignes, and in particular its very active chair, Lucie Virey
In the afternoon, our partner, the Association Terres De Liens, held a conference on food sovereignty, attended by Marine Tondelier 🌿 before the discussion began. 🗣
This round-table discussion highlighted several key challenges facing agriculture in our region,🚜 notably the major issue of generational renewal, particularly given the large number of agricultural land holdings set to come onto the market very soon, whilst the agricultural sector is struggling to attract new entrepreneurs.
💶 There are many reasons for this: land prices, integration into the local community, the challenges of the profession… In response, organisations such as Terres de Liens and Bio en Grand Est are stepping up their efforts to provide the best possible support to new project leaders – who often do not come from an agricultural background or the region – and who wish to set up small farms with diversified crops and practise organic farming. 🌾
The conference also gave the floor to the association ‘Mettons du coeur dans les épinards’ 🍲, whose work centres on the preparation and distribution of organic, locally sourced meals via mobile kitchens, as well as an organic and community-focused market held every first Sunday of the month in Ay.
