On Thursday 11 September, the Association des Champagnes Biologiques (Association of Organic Champagnes) had the pleasure of welcoming the staff members of IFOAM Europe, the largest and most influential European lobby for organic farming, for their annual seminar. đȘđș
đOn the agenda: visits to certified organic champagne estates (Champagne Telmont, Champagne Lelarge Pugeot and Champagne Ponson) and discussions on issues specific to organic viticulture in Champagne and France!
This meeting was an opportunity for the representatives of Champagnes Biologiques, JĂ©rĂŽme BOURGEOIS (chairman), Pascal DOQUET (vice-chairman) and Anne BISIAUX (salaried coordinator) to deepen their knowledge of European legislative mechanisms and possible actions to defend the interests of organic producers at European level. đż
The ACB took advantage of this visit to reiterate its main demands:
âą Its firm opposition to the inclusion of phosphonates in the European Union’s organic specifications.
âą The importance, in the context of the next European re-evaluation of copper scheduled for 2029, of maintaining the current regulation: 28 kg/ha over 7 years, with the possibility of smoothing.
The meeting ended with a dinner of discussion, entirely organic and local, concocted by our dear chef Otis Lebert, who once again offered a most delicious and creative meal!đšđŒâđł
The Association of Organic Champagnes stands ready to provide assistance and expertise in the field to IFOAM Europe. đ
We look forward to seeing you again in Champagne or Brussels!
